Prayer Concerns
MCEC in prayer
Please pray for the MCEC community of congregations. . This week we pray for Cassel Mennonite Church and for Josh Martin, who provides leadership to this community. Pray for them as they follow Christ in ways of peace, love and justice and endeavour to serve the needs of their community.
Mennonite World Conference
We pray for Mennonite churches in North America to stay united. Amid the stress from a heated political situation as well as growing diversity among the church body, may churches draw closer to each other in solidarity, as Jesus prayed “that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us.” (John 17:21)
Please pray for the Church of the Heart of Christ in Vinnytsia and Berdyansk, as well as other Mennonite churches currently under occupation. Pray for peace, freedom and the opportunity to address people’s needs. Our second prayer request is for a church building in Vinnytsia so we can better serve the people now and in the after-war rehabilitation. Our third need is for ministry on the front lines, where people have lost everything. We want to bless them with food, hygiene products and other basic needs.
Local concerns
On Sunday, Jan 25th and Sunday, Feb 22nd at 3:30pm EST, Mennonite Action Canada invites your congregation to join a Phone Zap – a coordinated, peaceful action of calling our MPs to urge support for Bill C-233. This bill closes loopholes that allow Canadian-made weapons and components to be sent to those committing crimes against humanity. Mennonite Action will provide participants with their MP’s contact information and a simple script to use when leaving a message. This will be a national, hybrid event, with an online option alongside in-person gatherings in Mennonite churches across Canada. While individuals are welcome to join online on their own, we encourage you to gather with friends or with your congregation to make these true community actions.
