Prayer Concerns

MCEC in prayer

Please pray for the MCEC community of congregations. This week we pray for Burning Bush Forest Church and for Wendy Janzen, who provides leadership to this community. Pray for them as they gather for worship on the third Sunday of every month, guided by the creek, the hemlock, maples, and ironwood, the changing seasons, and by the Spirit.

Mennonite World Conference

Since 5 December 2025, violent attacks by an armed group have hit the town of Uvira in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a result, people from 10 CEFMC congregations (Mennonite Brethren Church of DR Congo) in the Ruzizi plain have been forcibly displaced, and others are still confined to their homes. Please pray for the affected population and members of our churches who already suffer from shortage of food and daily supplies because of the displacement. May God intervene to bring peace to this region and raise up people of goodwill to provide emergency humanitarian aid during this critical time.

—John S. Fumana, DR Congo

Local concerns

On Sunday, Jan 25th and Sunday, Feb 22nd at 3:30pm EST, Mennonite Action Canada invites your congregation to join a Phone Zap – a coordinated, peaceful action where groups and individuals can gather to call their MPs and urge support for Bill C-233. This bill would close loopholes that allow Canadian-made weapons and components to be sent to those committing crimes against humanity. This will be a time of both prayer for peace and justice, lamenting, and of action. Mennonite Action will provide participants with their MP’s contact information and a simple script to use when leaving a message. This will be a national, hybrid event, with an online option alongside in-person gatherings in Mennonite churches across Canada. While individuals are welcome to join online on their own, we encourage you to gather with friends or with your congregation to make these true community actions.
