Prayer Concerns
MCEC in prayer
Please pray for the MCEC community of congregations. . This week we pray for Centre Béthésda Mennonite de Québec, and for Charles Tabena, Dems Musato and Onesiphore Kiota who provide leadership to this community. Pray for this Quebec congregation, made up primarily of people from Swahili‑speaking countries, as they navigate their intercultural reality, settle into life in Canada and respond to the needs within their community. May they be strengthened with wisdom, unity, and hope.
Mennonite World Conference
We ask everyone to pray for the new government of Bolivia to govern with foresight, wisdom and compassion. The petrol shortage has subsided since the new government removed the fuel subsidy, but many problems still exist, and the opposition continues to stage protests in the city of La Paz over fuel subsidy cut.
Heavy rains caused severe flooding in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe in January 2026. Pray for MWC member churches as they respond to needs within their own families and in their regions: heavy rains and rushing floodwaters destroyed homes, crops and swept away livestock.
Local concerns
On Sunday, Feb 22nd at 3:30pm EST, Mennonite Action Canada invites your congregation to join a Phone Zap – a coordinated, peaceful action of calling our MPs to urge support for Bill C-233. This bill closes loopholes that allow Canadian-made weapons and components to be sent to those committing crimes against humanity. Mennonite Action will provide participants with their MP’s contact information and a simple script to use when leaving a message. This will be a national, hybrid event, with an online option alongside in-person gatherings in Mennonite churches across Canada. While individuals are welcome to join online on their own, we encourage you to gather with friends or with your congregation to make these true community actions.
