Prayers of the people

You call us to your house, O Lord, to go up the mountain and into your house that you may teach us your ways and so that we may walk in your paths. Eagerly we accept your invitation and search our hearts and minds so that your ways are our ways and your path is our path. Sometimes we need your help to return to your path, to repair our understanding, to help us see where you are calling us. Help us O lord to watch and wait for your light to come and illuminate our path, for your light to illuminate our understanding, for you to return and make the path clear for us.

Help us O Lord, to see the parts of the world that need restoration and repair – the places where conflict overwhelms peace, where fear and anger threaten to overwhelm love and peace, the places where hope seems futile. Help us to remember the people who live in these situations – whether they live in Haiti, Myanmar, Ukraine, Afghanistan or in our homes and neighbourhoods.

Lord of all, you are our hope and our salvation, our light and our joy. May we watch and wait for your ways to be revealed and may we work to restore your world as you want it to be. Amen
